Back in the day sparrow grass, or asparagus as we know it now, was truly a celebrated dish. King Louis the XIV of France's reign brought them back to popularity from medieval times and American Inventor Thomas Jefferson planted asparagus seeds just to write about the little green stalks the Spring would revive each year. Thus the creation of the Asparagus Server! First seen in the 18th century, this serving piece really exhibited the depth of how much asparagus was cherished. This inspired piece created by Ben Caldwell is an accolade to 18th century silversmithing. A truly superb reminder for hand-made finery.
